Texas has always been a fertile ground for heavy music, and Apex Fallen are proving themselves to be one of the state’s most relentless new exports. Founded in 2020 by drummer Daniel Woody and original vocalist Jeremy Hasson, the band quickly put themselves on the map with early EPs Never The Lesser (2020) and Greater Than Misery (2022), as well as the standalone single Battle Born. With the lineup cemented by Reis Divine (guitar) and Erik Hartenstein (bass/backing vocals), the group came into their own, dropping heavy-hitters like Catastrophic and King Slayer and eventually their full-length debut, Sum of It All, in 2024.

But the real turning point came when Hartenstein stepped up to the mic, transforming into the band’s lead vocalist. That shift opened the gates for a darker, more uncompromising direction, first showcased on Hive Mind. Now, in 2025, Apex Fallen sharpen their focus even further with the addition of bassist Justin Cordero and unleash their newest single: Digital Demise.

The track is a crushing fusion of progressive metal, djent, metalcore, and deathcore, carrying both mechanical precision and human rage. Lyrically, the song is as timely as it gets — a reflection on our tangled relationship with artificial intelligence. The video and message serve as a warning: AI isn’t some outside invader; it’s the monster we created ourselves. Or as the band puts it, “we are all to blame, for this self-inflicted fate.”

Musically, Digital Demise blends massive, polyrhythmic riffs with moments of atmosphere, breakdowns designed to split open a live pit, and a vocal performance that balances brutality with clarity. Apex Fallen manage to sound modern without losing the grit that first fueled the underground movement they came from.

With shows already alongside Traitors, Crown Magnetar, Ventana, and A Killer’s Confession, the band are proving that they’re not just another regional act. Still, a name to watch as they level up to the national stage.
