HKSPK Releases New Black/Death Metal Album "Heimkehr"
German Black/Death metal trio HKSPK returns with their second full-length album "Heimkehr" — an intense, 25-minute onslaught of cold atmospheres, heavy riffs, and raw underground energy.
Brandenburg-based Black/Death metal outfit HKSPK has officially released their second full-length album, “Heimkehr”. Composed of Jim Tonik (vocals, lead guitar), Leon (rhythm guitar), and Arne (drums), the trio builds upon the raw momentum of their 2024 debut “Holy Scum” and 2025 EP “The Human Butcher”, presenting a more refined, heavier, and darker output.
Moving away from over-polished modern production, HKSPK combines the cold, abrasive atmosphere of black metal with the physical weight and blunt force of death metal.
Deconstructing the Dark Narrative and Sonic Weight of "Heimkehr"
Self-released digitally across major streaming platforms alongside a limited CD run of 50 copies via Bandcamp, “Heimkehr” packs 8 tracks into a dense 25-minute runtime.
While the title translates to "homeward journey"—evoking safety and warmth—the narrative subverts the concept entirely. The lyrical content draws from lived experiences, psychological collapse, war, and loss of control, depicting individuals returning from trauma without ever being truly whole.
- Written and produced entirely by the band, the album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Room13, featuring cover artwork crafted by Steffen Schmolke.
- Opening with a brief "Prelude" that erupts into the aggressive "Torture", the record navigates through the death metal weight of "Sonnenjäger", the atmospheric reduction of "Rot In Despair", and the narrative black metal of "Rain In The Face", before concluding with the oppressive six-minute title track.
Having previously shared the stage with acts like Asagraum, Enisum, and Waldgeflüster, HKSPK continues to reinforce their presence within the European extreme metal underground.
