EMPYREAN ”Quietus”

Prime Cuts Music – 2009 – Australia

Years ago, I didn’t like keyboarded, dark, horror film-like symphonic black metal, but I don’t know what happened to me, now I like them. In Turkey, old black metal fans hated this style too, but I don’t know if it’s still the same. Actually, you can’t call them just symphonic black metal. As I read, Empyrean is a band goes on tours with the famous bands who came to Australia. They deserve that though, they are really good.

Album may be liked by the ones who likes Empheror, Dimmu Borgir, Old Man’s Child and maybe Setherial, album cover gives clues about the style, though, hardcore fans of the style will recognise that. Sound is clean, as it should be. Besides scream vocals, there are clean and brutal-like vocals too. Keyboard they use is athmospheric and have doom metal air. There are merciless black metal riffs, and you can hear quality progressive riffs and solos too, it’s not a simple symphonic black metal. Production is good too, you can hear all the instruments clearly. A must listen…
