Temple of Bones, Featuring Ripping Corpse and Dim Mak Members, Share Second Single “Sky Is Like Ocean”

New Jersey death metal band Temple of Bones have dropped another preview of their debut album Walk The Winds. The new track is called “Sky Is Like Ocean”, and it’s the second song to surface from the record.

What makes this band worth watching is the lineup’s pedigree. Temple of Bones brings together members of Ripping Corpse and Dim Mak, two names with a solid place in New Jersey’s underground death metal history.

A quick refresher: Ripping Corpse put out four demos and a single full-length, Dreaming With the Dead, between 1987 and 1992 before calling it a day. The band’s best-known alumnus is Erik Rutan, who went on to join Morbid Angel and later formed Hate Eternal. Dim Mak rose from the ashes of Ripping Corpse, carrying that musical spirit forward while turning lyrically toward martial arts themes. Dim Mak released Enter the Dragon in 1999, Intercepting Fist in 2002 and Knives of Ice in 2006, returning in 2011 with The Emergence of Reptilian Altars.

Walk The Winds arrives November 13th through Relapse Records. Joe DeMaio handled the recording at Shorefire Recording Studios, Bob Pantella took care of the mix at Freakshop Studios, and John McBain mastered it at JPM Mastering Studios.

With musicians carrying this kind of history behind them, Temple of Bones’ debut is shaping up to be one of November’s more anticipated death metal releases.
