Counterfeit//Skin: Confronting the Weight of Body Dysphoria Through Deathcore

With Counterfeit//Skin, Of the Fallen dives headfirst into the raw psychological toll of body dysphoria — not as a passing theme, but as a deeply personal confrontation. Fueled by the intensity of deathcore’s sonic assault, the track captures the fractured sense of identity that comes from feeling alien in your skin.

Rather than focusing on surface-level frustration, the song explores the quiet despair of trying to align one’s self-image with reality, and the pressure to uphold a version of yourself that feels false. It's heavy in more ways than one — emotionally, lyrically, and musically.

For the band’s vocalist, this isn’t abstract; it's lived experience. And through guttural vocals and suffocating breakdowns, Counterfeit//Skin becomes a vehicle for expressing a very real, internalised pain.

It’s not just another deathcore track — it's a statement for anyone who's ever felt estranged from their reflection.
