Signs Of The Swarm Cover Rob Zombie's "Dragula"
Pittsburgh-based deathcore band Signs Of The Swarm have released their own version of Rob Zombie's 1996 classic "Dragula". The band slows down the original's grooves and turns its riff into an expanding breakdown rather than simply recreating the song.
The accompanying video shows the band performing the track while riding around on a Slingshot in clown outfits. The clip also features appearances from Bam Margera, Lorna Shore vocalist Will Ramos and several other guests.
Drummer Bobby Crow explained that the band had been looking for the right song to cover and put their own spin on for years. They considered songs by The Prodigy, Slayer and Static-X before settling on "Dragula." Crow also said the song came together within a day with producer and engineer Josh Schroeder, using beat loops and guitars tuned significantly lower.
Vocalist David Simonich said the video was originally intended to recreate the original clip as closely as possible, but the band could not find the right car. They eventually chose a Polaris Slingshot and decided to give the video a more modern approach. Members of 156/Silence, The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, Dying Fetus, August Burns Red and Galactic Empire, along with Dalton Dern, also appear in the video.
