Interviews

EXILE

Here is a band from Jordan, Exile, they do thrash metal and they’re promising. We made a nice interview with them.

Hi Exile, how are the things going? Do all of you live in Amman, don’t you?
Hi, we are good and everything is going alright thank you. and yes we all live in Amman.

Lets talk about the period of the band’s formation. You’ve said that you came together as 80’s thrash metal lovers. Can you tell us how did the band exactly come together?
Yes sure , EXILE was founded by guitarist Nader al-natsheh back in 2008 ,and he decided to come up with Exile’s own music that is influenced by the old school masters back in the 80’s.
because he knew that the 80’s was the golden era for thrash metal. Then Hasan joined Exile as a bassist and they were friends before, they wanted to take the jamming more seriously so they both met me while they were searching for a drummer, and i was also interested in the same musical style.
and then our journey as EXILE has begun 😉

You began in 2008, you have a demo since now, and I read on your Myspace page that you’ve begun to record your new album, how are the recordings going and how many songs do you plan for the album?
Yes, actually we were recording a single album called (absolute evil) and it consists of 2 songs (absolute evil) the new single and (ignorant is what you are) from the demo album, and the recording was not easy to be honest , we had some difficulties at the beginning , but it all came well later and the album is out now. And about our full length album we’re still working on the songs actually and 5 songs out of 9 is done now :).. So the full length album will contain 9 songs and we will start recording it as soon as the songs are done.

While recording, do you prefer studios of the ones who are into rock/metal music or do you prefer home recording? Can you talk about the musical scene and opportunities of Jordan?
Well. we prefer studios of the ones who are into metal because we’re seeking for the best quality…but the opportunities in jordan are sooooo limited and the musical scene is not helping at all! So most of our recordings was (home recorded) by our audio engineer and his simple equipments. in spite of this the quality was acceptable! thanks to our audio engineer (Alaa hamdan).

I think your demo is satisfying and promising. Will the new songs be melodic or will you continue to make aggressive songs?
Thank you, and we’ll continue to make aggressive songs, and even more aggressive than the demo 😉

There is a video of you on Facebook, is it an official video or is it just a fan made one? I think it is nice that the video and the song match perfectly.
It’s a fan made video actually it’s not an official video , but in spite of this it’s so nice and perfect !! and it match the song perfectly as u said…we loved it :p

I presume that a song of you was played on several internet radios, how were the reactions?
Yes that’s right. the reactions was pretty amazing. and the feedback was great …thanks to the internet radio’s of course 😛 and we’re looking forward to play more songs on more internet radio’s..

We began to hear several bands from Jordan, how is your local metal scene and will you have a chance to give a concert?
Yeah.. here in jordan there are a couple of good bands, and every band started to record their own songs , but sadly that its all in vain, you know, a metal band needs to play gigs and concerts , that what the metal is, playing lots of gigs, but unfortunately metal concerts are not allowed, so as we said it before in other interviews , metal scene in jordan is fucked up.

What about lyrics? have you got any ideology?
Ideology!!! isn’t a hard word?? hehehe. Mainly we write about oppression and social issues, here in jordan the atmosphere that we live in is so rich and inspiring to write good thrash songs, you know most of the people here are very … I don’t know they think that they are civilized, they try hard to imitate other countries cultures, they have lost their identity :/….

I wish we will have a chance to see you perform frequently, have you any suggestion of Jordanian band for us?
Thanks we hope so well as i mentioned before, there are many bands here in jordan, active bands like dragonrider (power/heavy) nethraziem ( black metal), binding shade ( melodic death) and souldbleed (death metal ) , check them out.

You, as band members, also work in Soulbleed and Dragonrider. Can you give brief information about them?
As for nader and ibrahim they play with dragonrider, Dragonrider is a power metal band formed back in 2007, their lyrical theme is optimistic, fighting depression and epic stories, they have two releases, a demo (musical sword) and Ep (moon serenade) and currently they are working on their full length album and they will start recording it soon. And as for mahmoud he plays in (soulbleed) , Soulbleed is a death metal band formed back in 2006 , their releases , (echoes in eternity) full length 2008 , (armagedon) single album 2010 , they are composing their second full length album now and they are looking forward to appear in some live performances out of jordan in the near future.

Lets take your last words, thrash metal fans are waiting patiently!
We would like to thank you for your interest in underground metal bands and we would like to thank our fans for their great words and support which keeps the spirit going on inside us… Listen to the true metal and stay away from the fake commercial stuff thrash rise.
