HORDES OF DECAY ”The Kings will be Ready”

Grom Records – 2012 – Greece

This is the first CD of this Greek Black Metal band from Athens. On it, they bring us Black Metal with some truly razor sharp riffs that cut their way into the ears of the listener. The sound of them is very “Greek” to say it so, which isn’t a big wonder since the man responsible for it is G. Bokos who did the production for some other Greek Black Metal bands. One of the bands with which I can compare Hordes of Decay is Melechesh. They are the closest band that comes to my mind while listening to this album. Also, this band doesn’t use any keyboards to make the atmosphere here on this release, only the guitars are responsible for it. They don’t try to be symphonic, they just try to unleash hell upon the listeners of this CD. On this album are 9 songs which are all around 4 to 5 minutes longs. Sometimes the songs seem to be a bit short and in my opinion, they could easily extend them for 2 more minutes because they are not boring in any way. Mostly they are faster ones, but not in the Dark Funeral or Marduk speed category, but faster than most of today’s bands. But it is not all time only about speed in their songs. I must say that this release is truly another good Black Metal album from Hellas and I am sure that this band will become bigger.
