Necropanther – Oblivion Jones EP Review
Independent – 2024 – United States of America
2023 Necropanther, which we talked about on the channel in our favorite albums of the year video, is here with a crazy EP before 1 year has passed. The band, which made me fall in love with its aggressive, uncompromising and melodic music structure at the same time, has fed different flavors and songs in this EP.
After the first song “The Denver School” which starts off fast and hard like a beast with a saxophone solo without saying what the hell is going on and then connects to animalistic blast beats, “The Transported Man” is a song with a mid tempo and catchy guitar riffs, which gives a sweet peace and we can see a clear doom effect. Towards the middle of the song, doom death starts with a long rock solo and suddenly it turns into a rock ballad and the song takes a different dimension with melodic acoustic parts. In fact “The Transported Man” has a great atmosphere. 3 song “First Friday” sounds like a classic Necropanther, but the saxophone solo at 02:38 transports you directly to the 90s. It’s as if I went back to the days when I played Game boy at home away from the responsibility of the world’s intensity. The last song “Thrash Till Death” is a thrash song as the name suggests, it’s a good song but frankly I didn’t find it as impressive as the other 3 songs but I can say it’s a good closing song.
