The Americans DRUG HONKEY are already since 1999 musically active. They put last year their opus “Ghost In The Fire“ via Transcending Obscurity on the market.
The gents rely here on very experimental sounds. Death Metal with a lot of Doom Metal mingles here with various experimental insertions here and there. Extremely slowly played halting riffs which are dark and memorable. They leave alone a listening experience which the listener doesn’t forget that fast! Supported by minimal drumming and powerful bass-lines this results in the musical base frame. The vocals partially go into the Noise area. Very emotional spoken or yelled they provide the production with more emphasis and extravangance. Darkness and feelings within your reach. Bizarre musical worlds develop which little short of digging to the pain threshold. “Ghost In The fire“ becomes therefore no easy to consume record. It demands a lot of stamina from the listener. But, patience and steady nerves pay off here! DRUG HONKEY exactly know what they want and are able to implement this consequently. Who ist into experimental, dark sounds and disharmonies should give a listen here by no means!!!!
