WHEN NOTHING REMAINS – Swedish doom giants release third epic via Solitude Productions

Solitude Productions reveals another fascinating band, this time from Sweden. When Nothing Remains play soothing, melodic and wistful doom metal, not too unlike Doom:VS, Officium Triste, Mourning Beloveth, and Shape of Despair. The music ever so elegantly balances melodies with heaviness, but the atmosphere is never overpowering. It simply ushers the listener into a fanciful world, one rife with painful reminders of life but solace is around every nook and cranny of this record. The heart beats cautiously, emotions are manipulated, catharsis alternates with freezing grips. Simply put, it’s as beautiful as life – or what you make of it. When Nothing Remains’ third epic is as palpable as it can get, but allows for multiple shafts of light and hope to permeate your being, at least while you’re listening to this album. It’s a breathtaking affair that has to be experienced to be believed.
