6th AWAKENING ”Psycho Path”

Tmina records – 2012 – Sweden

When I started to listen to this Swedish Metal band, I thought: Oh great, this sounds like a good Black Metal in the vein of some old Burzum, but after a couple of seconds, I saw that it has nothing to do with Black Metal. It is actually hard to describe the music of this band because of the different influences in their music. It has some Death Metal (both Old School and Melodic Death Metal), Nu Metal and from times to times also some Black Metal in it. This band exists since 2001 and this is their first album. On this album are 10 songs from which one is a cover version of the Type O Negative song “My girlfriend’s girlfriend”. The songs here on this album are always over 3 minutes long and they always go straight ahead without mercy for the listener. I wouldn’t say that these songs are boring. You can listen to this album in one row without the feeling that you want to skip a song on it. The only song that I don’t like here on this album is the Type O Negative cover version because it sounds a bit too Nu Metal for my taste. Marilyn Manson comes to my mind while listening to this song. Since I am not a fan of this kind of music, but a fan of Type O Negative, I must say that I skipped this one. The other tracks here are good and interesting also because of the male and female vocals. This way it sounds a bit like the Gothic Metal bands sound, but with a more rough music behind that, than the mystic atmosphere we know from Gothic Bands. This album is surely a good debut album and the bands offers with it something different comparing to the other bands from Sweden.
