The Italian Death Metal band Hateful will release their new studio album before end of June by The Spew Records (a Punishment 18 Records sub-label). The new album will be mixed at Soundbusters Studios in Modena, Italy, by Hateful and will be mastered by famous Dan Swanö, owner of Unisound studios (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Cronian, Evergrey, Lay Down Rotten, Marduk, Opeth).
Danish thrashers Hells Domain have signed with Italian label Punishment 18 Records for the release of their self-titled debut album. The album is due in September on Cd and Lp. Band was formed by guitarist Bjørn Bihlet (ex-KOLDBORN, BOIL) and bassist Lars Knudsen (ex-CRIONIC) in 2007 with the intention of churning out some catchy Bay Area inspired thrash metal. Soon joined by Anders Gyldenøhr (ex-HATESPHERE, ARTILLERY) on drums and Alex Clausen (MONSTAH) on vocals, the band completed its line-up in 2011 with the addition of former EXMORTEM axeman Andreas Schubert.
The track 'Time Feeds this Wound' from Lycanthia's upcoming album 'Oligarchy' has now been made available for streaming and free download. This is now the third song to be made available from the Oligarchy album. The release date for this album is fast approaching as well, and next sunday on April 7th, the album will be released in digipack format and also available for free streaming in its entirety on the Hypnotic Dirge bandcamp.
For now though, Oligarchy is available to pre-order, and anyone who pre-orders the album will receive a download link immediately while they wait for their CD to arrive.
Formed in 1996, Lycanthia carries with them a history spanning 17 years and are one of Australia's oldest surviving doom metal bands.
A six piece band hailing from Sydney, Lycanthia plays traditional gothic death-doom metal with a strong emphasis on atmosphere, melody, and the captivating use of alternating male growls and female soprano vocals. Comparisons could be drawn between Lycanthia and the sound found in the early "golden age" works of classic gothic doom bands such as My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Draconian, and Theatre of Tragedy.
A flagship of this particular sound is the contrast between dark, aggressive, and heavy death-doom and softer moments courtesy of female vocals, keyboards, and violin arrangements and Lycanthia does this extraordinarily well. The growls courtesy of founding member and bassist Lee Tassaker is a definite strong point of the album, and he's accompanied very nicely with the poignant female vocals from both the violinist and keyboardist, Vanessa Black and Megan Tassaker respectively.
The vocal work is complimented nicely by six very competent musicians all working towards a heavy, despairing, and powerfully melancholic sound and a production quality that does the songwriting justice. Mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Katatonia), the re-release of Oligarchy on Hypnotic Dirge comes in a digipack format with an 8 page foldout booklet.
Lycanthia is currently on a dual album launch east coast Australian tour alongside Subterranean Disposition, another doom outfit from Hypnotic Dirge Records who recently released their debut album. There are still two dates on the tour remaining in April so if you are in the area, be sure to make an appearance and enjoy a night of doom!
Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH entered Hertz studio in Bialystok, Poland at the end of February to begin recording their next album for a late 2013 release via Nuclear Blast in Europe and Metal Blade in North America.

After 2 years of absence from touring, The Way Of Purity will be back on the road in Europe with Cryptopsy, Cattle Decapitation and Decrepit Birth and will also perform an uk headline tour. The infamous combo will present the new album "Equate" live during April and May with a new and intense live set and performance.
Bass player "without name" stated: " After the last tour with Gorgoroth we have been strugling to find a new balance in our project as we changed our singer and our sound developed in a more complex entity with computer / synths / effects / spoken parts / intros ... Everything needed to be tested really hard to make sure that we will be able to blow the audience away at this time ... The set will be continuous, non-stop with real high picks of emotion, I promise. We are ready now." Furthermore The Way Of Purity announced important cooperations for the new album.
Singer Marja Panic stated: " We started writing our new album with our russian friend Stielas Storhett and our producer Jonathan Mazzeo ... After this quite big work we felt that we wanted to give the final emotional touch with massive and continuous orchestrations so we asked Marianna Alfieri, known for being guitar player on Kirlian Camera, to work with us at that stage. She made such intense, passionate and incredibly tragical compositions to enhance our ideas. Now we are ready to fly to Romania to produce the vocals with Ageru Pamantului, former singer in Negura Bunget. After this last process we will enter Realsound and mathlab Studios in Italy to record the whole project. We still have to ask Christian Donldson if he wants to mix this album but we have time during the tour, I am quite sure that we will be able to work with him again."

The members of Atlanta-based grindcore trio DEAD IN THE DIRT have completed the writing process for their pending debut LP, and are preparing to set up camp to harness their latest blast-laden auditory dissent in the coming days.
DEAD IN THE DIRT will travel seven hundred miles north, set to record with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) at Bricktop Recording Studio in Chicago the second week of April, armed with a barrage of new songs which will be delivered later in the year as their first full-length release, The Blind Hole. Following their initial 2010-released Vold EP, DITD caught the attention of Southern Lord Recordings, who hooked up with the band immediately for the release of their Fear 7, which bore some of the heaviest music of the year, taking morose lessons from His Hero Is Gone and Cursed to horrifically relentless levels of blasting intensity. The label will continue the tradition, and The Blind Hole will see release through Southern Lord later in the year.
A band who continually takes their societal and politically-based contempt out on the road, DEAD IN THE DIRT have taken part in multiple Southern Lord and The Power Of The Riff events and tours over the past two years, including both East Coast and West Coast US tours as direct support for SUNN O))) in 2012. With much more still in the works for the coming months, a live assault throughout the Midwest and parts of the Southeast US has already been confirmed for the majority of the month of May. The band will also take on Europe for a full month this October and November.

According to a Facebook posting from Matte Modin (DARK FUNERAL, INFERNAL, DEFLESHED), Swedish guitarist David Parland (NECROPHOBIC, DARK FUNERAL, INFERNAL) died on March 19 at the age of 42. No cause of death has yet been revealed.
A founding member of the Swedish melodic death metal band NECROPHOBIC, Parland later went on to start DARK FUNERAL and make a melodic and essentialist version of black metal that later worked more occult heavy metal into the mix. After that, he joined INFERNAL and developed their unique style of intensely violent music.
Guitarist Lord Ahriman (Mikael Svanberg) of Swedish black metallers DARK FUNERAL has posted the following message regarding the passing of his former bandmate, Swedish guitarist David Parland (pictured below; NECROPHOBIC, DARK FUNERAL, INFERNAL):
"A couple of days ago I was reached by the terrible news that my old brother David 'Blackmoon' Parland had passed away and entered the eternal fire once and for all. It's taken me a few days to grasp it all. And it still hurts a lot to even think to talk about it.
"During the last couple of weeks, I was in close contact with David. He was going through an extremely difficult time of life, whereof he contacted me to ask for my help.
"Even though the two of us had a bit of a complicated relationship over the years (much excessive in the media though), he knew that he could ALWAYS call or visit me when needed, which he also did once in a while.
"Last time I talked to him was when he called me on March 15. From what I could understand, things were going in the right direction. I also had some very good news for him, which he was very happy to hear about. What happened after that I simply can't understand. And I cant understand WHY he didn't call me (again).
"So close, so fucking close to get back on track, brother.
"You will be missed deeply! May you reign forever and ever in the eternal hellfire.
