Swedish Black Metal legends DARK FUNERAL and Century Media Records are announced the signing of a worldwide deal for the next 3 albums.
Guitarist and founding member Lord Ahriman comments: "Our bad luck with labels in the past has for sure been very frustrating. So it is with great pleasure to finally be able to turn the page, move on and start a new dark chapter in the DARK FUNERAL saga, as we join the great Century Media family. Century Media has more than enough proven to be a stable and highly professional label. And we are totally looking forward to this new cooperation, which I'm sure will prove to be very satisfying and successful for both parts. Hail the goat!"
Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Century Media Records Europe, comments: I always respected DARK FUNERAL for their endurance and integrity. Theyve gone through some hard times, but never gave up and also never gave in to compromise on their musical and aesthetic vision. Almost 20 years after their formation its still the same powerhouse of unmerciful Black Metal and the new line-up is stronger and more focused than in the past. Thanks to Lord Ahriman and the whole band! Looking forward to their 20th anniversary in 2013 with a new album In The Sign Of The Horns!
His fellow bandmates Uruz and Enzifer issued the following statement:
The greatest is gone. Trondr Nefas, our dearest friend and companion for more than 20 years, suddenly passed away last week. He died a peaceful and natural death at one of his favourite places, surrounded by woods and crystal lakes. Thanks for all the years with friendship, music and madness. For the good times and the bad times. Through your dark devotion for black metal, you have inspired so many. You were a true pioneer. We will miss you, but never forget you, because your legacy will live on. Our deepest sympathy goes to Tronds fiancée Octavia, and both of their families. We appreciate all of the condolences and support given to us after his tragic death.
Swedish death metallers SARGATANAS REIGN have announced that Tomas Lindberg (AT THE GATES, SKITSYSTEM, THE CROWN, LOCK UP) will guest on their upcoming album, "Godwork". The band states, "This man has been around for many years and is still going strong! He has done so much in his career and made important contributions. And what an amazing job he did for us! His voice is like a rusty chainsaw which leaves no one untouched!"
Also making guest appearances on "Godwork" are Joakim Göthberg, the former frontman for DIMENSION ZERO and MARDUK; Mathias Lillmåns, the vocalist of FINNTROLL, THE INIQUITY DECENT and MAGENTA HARVEST; and SCAR SYMMETRY singer Roberth Karlsson.
According to Naviny.by, the Prosecutor General's Office has banned Swedish black metal band MARDUK from playing a show in Minsk, Belarus.
Pavel Radzivonaw, a departmental head at the Prosecutor General's Office, told reporters on Monday that MARDUK's concert, scheduled for May 22, would not take place.
"The band preaches Satanism, which has nothing to do with art. This is an affront to Christian values, they preach the ideas of death, of the Third Reich," he said, describing the band's songs as "destructive".
Four other groups that were scheduled to appear with MARDUK at the Re:Public club including KATAKLYSM and VADER will be allowed to perform. However, Radzivonaw warned, their concerts may be stopped if they involve violations of laws.
German thrash metal heroes TANKARD will release their 30th anniversary release, entitled A Girl Called Cerveza, on July 27th via Nuclear Blast. The band have released a trailer, which covers the pre-listening session held at the famous Studio 23 in Frankfurt, Germany in late April, and also features various statements from national media.
A Girl Called Cerveza was jointly produced with Michael Mainx (BÖHSE ONKELZ, DER W, DISBELIEF, D-A-D) and features the following tracklisting:
Stockholm, Sweden-based label Threeman Recordings, which is owned and run by members of ENTOMBED, recently launched a new collaboration with Ninetone Records. The first release under this arrangement will be a single for the re-recorded version of the song "Amok" from ENTOMBED's 2007 album, "Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments", produced by Patrik Frisk (CORRODED). A May 23 release is expected.
"Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments" was released in the U.S. on July 31, 2007 via Candlelight/Threeman Recordings. The 10-song effort marked the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (ALPHA SAFARI, ex-MISERY LOVES CO.), who replaced Peter Stjärnvind in 2006. Mastering duties were handled by Soren Elofsson at Cosmos Mastering in Stockholm, Sweden.
"Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 3. This was the highest chart position in the band's career.
The current lineup of ENTOMBED features Victor Brandt (TOTALT JÄVLA MÖRKER, AEON, SATYRICON) and second guitarist Nico Elgstrand (who previously played bass for the group).
German thrashers DEW-SCENTED have announced their new lineup. It is as follows (pictured from left to right in photo below):
Rory Hansen - Guitar
Marvin Vriesde - Guitar
Leif Jensen - Vocals
Joost van der Graaf - Bass
Koen Herfst - Drums
Commented DEW-SCENTED vocalist Leif Jensen: "I'm more than proud to be able to present you a new chapter in the history of DEW-SCENTED!
"By early 2011, after four weeks of European touring with NILE, it showed clearly that our previous 'Invocation' lineup was collapsing and one member after another left the fold for different reasons. We decided to play some final festival shows together in the summer and then after Party.San Open Air and Brutal Assault festival, DEW-SCENTED went away from the spotlight in order to re-group and regain new focus. And here we finally are again, back with an improved line-up and a really strong new album coming up in July: 'Icarus'!"
The new lineup re-introduces Marvin Vriesde (SEVERE TORTURE, BLO.TORCH) as main guitarist and songwriter. Not a stranger to DEW-SCENTED's path of life, Vriesde's ties with the band go as far as back as 1996, when he played lead guitars for DEW-SCENTED on the band's first-ever proper tour (with EDGE OF SANITY, LAKE OF TEARS and SADIST), as well as for some additional shows supporting MORBID ANGEL. He later returned as the session guitarist for a European tour with CANNIBAL CORPSE in 2002 or also for various other dates in Europe, Japan and North America all throughout 2005, as well as to appear as a guest guitarist on the "Issue VI" album and in the "Turn To Ash" video.
Added Jensen: "I'm truly happy to have finally managed to team up with my buddy Marvin in DEW-SCENTED. Being one of my closest friends in music and the band's 'longest-running companion,' it's amazing to be able to finally put the band's musical present and future in his hands, giving our music a new safe home with his talent and dedication. I can't wait for you all to hear the great start-up results we achieved with 'Icarus'!"
Commented Vriesde: "Me and DEW-SCENTED have a long history together. I helped the band out on several occasions in the past, studio as well as live situations. So when Leif suggested joining forces for real on the new record, I was thrilled! This allowed me to write DEW-SCENTED songs that I would really want to hear from the band, from a fan's point of view."
Drummer Koen Herfst (I CHAOS, EPICA) and bassist Joost van der Graaf (I CHAOS, CREEPMIME) rounded off the "Icarus" lineup organically, as Vriesde explains in regards to the pre-production process for the new album: "The writing process went really smooth and focused. Me and Leif were bouncing all these awesome ideas around. We realized that these songs deserved to be recorded in the best form possible. That's why I asked a good local friend of mine, Koen Herfst, to handle the drums. On his turn he brought in Joost van der Graaf to handle the bass duties for the album. Both are amazing musicians and that's what sets 'Icarus' apart for me. I think everyone brought something extra to the table, which really took the album to a higher level. 'Icarus' is a really heavy album, but it somehow has a darker feel to it in comparison to the previous DEW-SCENTED albums."
Last but not least, guitarist Rory Hansen (I CHAOS, BLO.TORCH) was added to the band's ranks as second guitarist shortly after the album recordings. On recommendation of all the other three new members, his presence paves the way for a really skilled and menacing dual-guitar-team.
The new DEW-SCENTED lineup will make their debut shows on July 20 at Metalsplash festival and July 21st at Queens Of Metal festival.
Jensen previously described the "Icarus" main theme as "a modern-times, very apocalyptic adaption of elements of the Icarus myth, using a lot of its symbolism while interlinking with several other personal or observant subjects in true DEW-SCENTED fashion." While the album recorded at Soundlodge Studio and produced by Jörg Uken (NIGHTFALL, SUICIDAL ANGELS, GOD DETHRONED) is not quite a concept album per se, Jensen says "Icarus" "has a pretty coherent lyrical flow, and that helps to enhance and also to intentionally enlarge the atmosphere and vibe created by the music." The "Icarus" cover artwork was once created by Björn Goosses of Killustrations.
"Icarus" will be released on July 31 in North America via Prosthetic Records (one day earlier internationally through Metal Blade Records).
In conjunction with legendary New York hardcore band AGNOSTIC FRONT's 30th-anniversary shows in June and July, where they'll be playing their classic record "Live At CBGB" from start to finish, Bridge Nine Records has announced that the label will be reissuing the album on July 17. Featuring an embossed LP cover with the original "Live At CBGB" artwork, the effort will be made available on super-limited-edition red-white-and-blue-striped vinyl with multiple other colorways available.
Commented AGNOSTIC FRONT vocalist Roger Miret said, "With this year being our 30-year anniversary as a band with myself singing, I wanted to play a special show here and there so I came up with the idea of playing our classic 'Live At CBGB' set. This was the set front to back from our legendary live recording released in 1989. That was a magical time for the band and hardcore was thriving at its best in 1988 when it was recorded.
"As an honorable family member with the Bridge Nine crew, I knew that the label should be home to this special re-release as much as CBGB was home to AGNOSTIC FRONT.
"We are making this re-release very special for the record collector in a red-white-and-blue color and our timeless original cover embossed to add that punch it held back in 1989 as intense today in 2012! Along with this special re-release, we are doing a handful of special shows in the U.S. to coordinate with the release. This will be a great release team effort with AGNOSTIC FRONT and Bridge Nine here it is the glory days of 1988 New York City hardcore as relevant today, tomorrow and forever!"
Originally released in 1989, "Live At CBGB" contains 19 of AGNOSTIC FRONT's most notorious tracks. Allmusic said, "Recorded in the flesh at New York's punk rock Mecca CBGB in August of 1988, 'Live At CBGB' captures the band in all its ferocious glory. As Miret announces, 'This is the title track from our first album, 'Victim In Pain', the song's also called 'Victim In Pain',' the band is off. 'Pain' is quickly followed by 'Public Assistance' and later a song that calls for unity between punks and skins, 'United Blood'. The recording is highlighted by the band's hardcore anthem, 'Crucified'. Beneath all the band's political lambasting and calls for unity (although many of their shows were anything but), there's a good musical lesson to be learned from all of this. Because, if you've ever been just the slightly bit curious about what NYHC is all about, this release is a solid launching point."
The new album of the indefinable thrashers from Catalonia will be composed by 11 tracks, 9 new ones and 2 re-recorded from the first EP of the band, Welcome to my stormy nights, both tracks entitled as Stop on time and Overdosed.
The album, with no tittle fixed yet, will be recorded in the month of July in the Axtudio of Barcelona, where the band recorded their previous full length The seed of Malaise and where other thrash metal bands from Catalonia recorded as well.
In words of the band: Were sure this album will enchant all the lovers of The seed of malaise. On one hand were going to introduce new elements, going one step further in our concept of thrash metal. On the other hand, its going to be 100% Vivid Remorse. Both things complement each other perfectly. It will be a record even more varied than the previous one: with faster moments, some death metal parts, some punk, some heavy stuff It will be A little bit more in every aspect always with the essence and musical personality of the band, because we didnt introduce Vivid Remorse in other genres, but our Thrash metal is closer to them right now. So, our philosophy about creating short, dynamic and direct musical pieces with refinements and worked vocal melodies keeps being present in this album.
On april 26 the long awaited second album from one of Swedens finest, Waning, The Human Condition was released via Antonym Records. The band is currently looking for gigs all over Europe and are happy to receive suggestions and/or offers email@example.com

English Metal masters Def-Con-One, featuring former Venom and Mpire Of Evil drummer Antton Lant, have signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the release of their debut album Warface. With influences covering a wide range of musical styles, from modern Metal to old school Rock and Punk, Def-Con-One have been described by the organizers of Bloodstock Open Air Festival (where they played in 2011) as a bar fight between Machine Head, Slayer and Pantera. Def-Con-One is on a mission to spread their sound and infect the world with Warface. Songs such as the titletrack and Steeped In Pain, which offer up huge slabs of aggressive, groove laden riffs, beats and vocals that will be hard to beat. Songs like Blood, which has harmonies that infect the brain. Hook filled tracks such as My Halo and March Of The Dead. Every song from Def-Con-One is crushing! A solid year of gigs in 2011 increased their fan base and saw them play the length and breadth of the UK. The band has gone from strength to strength and is now ready to unleash themselves upon the world. Listen to the title track by clicking here.
