In the twilight zone between doom and post metal resides Oceanwake, a broad-minded group of musicians from the small Finnish coastal town of Luvia. They are now set to release their sophomore album ”Sunless”, which will be out on March 13 via Swedish label ViciSolum Productions. Oceanwake's debut album “Kingdom” already gathered positive reviews, but it's fair to say that Sunless is on a wholly different level in terms of songwriting. Its four lengthy tracks form a coherent album while still retaining the sense of adventure and also pushing the envelope of what can be considered metal. The album was co-produced by the Korpiklaani mainman Jonne Järvelä. He brought in the missing ingredient with his crystal clear mixing that really appreciates the organic and dynamic sound of Oceanwake.

The chief song architect of Oceanwake, Ville-Veikko Laaksonen, explains the story of “Sunless”:
"On 'Kingdom' the main character was under water, figuratively speaking, with his hopes and demons. This time around he finally reaches the surface, but only to realize that all hope and images of salvation are a sunless space and escapism gone wrong. Even though he really wants to see a glimpse of something better, his own mind keeps drawing him back to the dark depths.”

Avanturine, the shortest track of the album (still over 8 minutes!) is now available for pre-listening at www.vicisolumrecords.bandcamp.com/album/sunless

To celebrate the release of “Sunless”, Oceanwake will perform the album in its entirety at Bar Kino, Pori on March 13. Prior to this, Oceanwake appears as a special guest of Moonsorrow at Klubi, Lutakko, Jyväskylä (Feb 28).

Voices about Oceanwake:
"Oceanwake skillfully capitalizes on dynamics, dramatics and mood shifts. One moment their music is heavy as lead, the next it's hovering above the stratosphere. Whatever they do, it's always executed with a sense of style. 'Sunless' rewards those who enjoy long, slow and meandering songs. If you're into instant radio hits, don't bother.” - Markus Laakso/Kuolemanlaakso

"Oceanwake know the soundscapes like they know their hometown. The balance between atmospheric and aggressive is quite right. It definitely would not make them any justice to squeeze them into post-this and post-that categories. I'd say this is first-rate buzzing!” - Ville Sorvali/Moonsorrow

"Hell yes! Great and versatile doomy riffings with post-elements. Sunless is definitely a strong album which keeps you inside the world of Oceanwake!" - Jarno Salomaa/Shape of Despair

Tracklist:
01. The Lay of a Coming Storm 15:37
02. Parhelion 9:18
03. Avanturine 8:03
04. Ephemeral 10:26

"Hurt Yourself and The Ones You Love" is the title of the new album by Italy's notorious purveyors of black/doom metal, FORGOTTEN TOMB. The band's highly anticipated 8th studio opus is scheduled for release via Agonia Records, on April 17th in Europe and April 21st in North America. Album cover is available below.

The new album is a "mix of melancholy, groove and pure malignancy" - as put by the band's leader, Ferdinando "Herr Morbid" Marchisio. "We kept the sound very organic and natural, kinda old-fashioned but still very fresh. The new songs are heavy as fuck and they feature our classic trademark plus some new elements. I can't wait for people to listen to it, 'cause it's a really special album for us and probably the most extreme we did in quite a while, both musically and conceptually".

Marchisio also referred to working with producer Terje Refsnes (Carpathian Forest, Novembre, Gehenna, Destroyer 666) for the first time: "We worked really hard, like never before. Terje Refsnes is a really experienced producer and he managed to get the best out of us. We are extremely proud of how this new album came out".

02. King Of The Undesirables

Lychgate

Goremented - 13/02/2015 Top

Blood Music is extremely proud to present to its roster – Lychgate!

The academic, apocalyptic black metal unit will premiere its sophomore masterwork - “An Antidote for the Glass Pill” - on deluxe vinyl, CD, and digital formats through us in early 2015. Taking two painstaking years to execute, the seminal work is vast in concept and light years beyond the band's already well-acclaimed debut.

“An Antidote ...” is the ceremonial, liturgical brother of Esoteric and features Greg Chandler (Esoteric's frontman and founding member) on guitar, vocals, and engineering duties. The record is also perhaps the only black metal album in history that features full accompaniment by a professional church pipe organist throughout.

We've been tracking the progress of this album from raw demos to polished finale and can attest that this was an incredible labor-of-love and also a work of painstaking genius. This is the rare kind of album that will actually give you goosebumps.

A premiere of the track “Letter XIX” below:

DOWN's video for the song "Conjure" can be seen below. The haunting and twisted ode to '70s horror films was directed by JM Stelly and Chris Trainor at Lab Productions. Stelly previously worked with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and Suicide Girls, while Trainor has collaborated with GWAR, PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS, EYEHATEGOD, and is the producer of Housecore TV.

"Conjure" is taken from the band's latest EP, "Down IV - Part Two", which sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The official lyric video for the song "Thurisaz Dreaming" from Norwegian progressive extreme metallers ENSLAVED can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's thirteenth studio album, "In Times", which will be released on March 6 via Nuclear Blast. The CD's hand-painted artwork was created by longtime collaborating artist and "sixth ENSLAVED member" Truls Espedal.

Greek thrashers Biotoxic Warfare have released an official music video to coincide with their recent debut album release, Lobotomized. And it’s all that you can expect from an album that reviewers are describing as ‘magically evil’ [twoguysmetalreviews], with ‘eight shots of pure aggression’ [SoundtheCharge] waiting to pound the listener.

Filmed by the talented Athina Tousia inside the medieval walls of the band’s home city of Heraklion in Crete, the band chose to centre on song ‘Proclaim the Gospel of Lies’ for their first official video of the album.

As explained by the band, the video follows, “a young explorer who in one of his researches, finds one ancient book bound with an unholy curse, which slowly descends him into madness and oblivion”.

NORYLSK from Wloclawek, Poland has just signed a deal with Selfmadegod Records to release their second full length. The grind four piece is currently in the studio to record „Catholic Dictatorship”. The album is slated for summer 2015 release.
