DISSECTION

Cenk A. - 22/11/2005 Top

Reactivated Swedish death metallers DISSECTION have parted ways with recently recruited bassist Haakon Forwald (a.k.a. General K; MYRKSKOG, DISIPLIN). The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows:

"As a result of bassist Haakon Forwald's family situation back home in Norway and his initiatory work with the Norwegian cell division of the Misanthropic Luciferian Order (MLO), it has been decided that Forwald will step back from the position as DISSECTION's bass player in order to focus on his esoteric and exoteric work in Norway. DISSECTION wish Forwald the best of luck on the path to anti-cosmic gnosis and thank him for his time with the band. This will not affect the two upcoming shows in Sweden and Germany booked for December and January [December 30 at Kolingsborg (The Shrine) in Stockholm, Sweden and January 28 at the Winternoize Festival in Osnabrück, Germany] where DISSECTION for the last time ever will perform a set based solely on the old albums! Bass player candidates already exist and are currently being tried out in rehearsals!"

DISSECTION recently reacquired the rights to their classic "Storm of the Lights Bane" album from Nuclear Blast. In addition, Black Lodge's licensing rights to the group's 1993 debut, "The Somberlain", will expire in December. Both albums are currently out of print and will be re-issued by the label to which DISSECTION will sign for their next album.

DISSECTION entered the studio on February 2 to begin recording their long-awaited third album, the group's first release since "Storm of the Light's Bane". The recording is taking place at Black Syndicate Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, with DISSECTION mainman Jon Nödtveidt's brother Emil Nödtveidt (a.k.a. THE DEATHSTARS' Nightmare Industries) and Skinny Kangur at the helm. Eleven songs are being recorded for the album and the material is being regarded by the band as "a work of sonic black magic, actively channelling the anti-cosmic current 218." Rough-mix versions of two new songs from DISSECTION's forthcoming CD are available for download on their official web site. Check out the tracks "Xeper-I-Set" and "Starless Aeon".

DISSECTION are currently in negotiations with several labels for the upcoming release, but the recordings are being completely financed by the band itself independent of any record company. A final decision about the group's new label home is expected to be made soon.

VOIVOD

Cenk A. - 22/11/2005 Top

VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin has issued the following update to fans regarding their upcoming album and other projects for 2006:

"Dear Voivodians, we will do our best to make a great record that Piggy would be proud of as we worked very hard for the past two years on the new songs. Jasonic has already put down his bass tracks and Glen Robinson [producer; ANNIHILATOR, NASHVILLE PUSSY] and I will edit Piggy's guitar tracks in December. We will track my drum parts and Snake's vocals in Montreal in January. Then we'll mix it, get it mastered and released as soon as possible via The End Records in USA, Nuclear Blast in Europe and Hypnotic-Linus/Universal in Canada.

"In other news, I am still working on my long overdue art book, coming out on Troubleman Unlimited in 2006. Also coming out next year, 'DVOD-2', our second DVD which will be covering the '90s line-up with Eric Forrest. Thanks for your patience!

"P.S. If you get a chance to see the movie 'Metal: A Headbanger's History', it is great and has a short interview with Piggy in it. We saw the Montreal premiere a few weeks ago at the invitation of Sam and Scott, the filmmakers, and they introduced the movie by dedicating it to Piggy, which was very cool of them."

BELPHEGOR

Cenk A. - 22/11/2005 Top

The following message was read on the band´s official page:

All right, last days before we hit the studios. We're all set, most of the 10 compositions/arrangements are finished in a rudimentary form. Equipment is packed, new cymbals arrived and cables/strings/plecs a.o.have been fixed. Andy Classen (Stage One Studios / Kassel Germany) will be at the helm as producer, the four recording sessions and mixing/mastering process should be complete by middle of February ´06, and the yet untitled album's release date will hopefully be sometime in April/May of 2006.

As for the new album, we are doing everything we can to make sure it's the heaviest, most intense - monumental one BELPHEGOR ever made. We never rehearsed as often as for these 10 sound-collages, hell yeah,.....we feel that this will be the mightiest BELPHEGOR jewel yet. Well, we will let you in on the progress being made and give you an insight into the recording processes, reports will be posted on this site on a regular basis...

US death metallers VEHEMENCE have decided to quit. Here´s the official statement from the band:

"8 years after it all started, we decided that now is the time to throw in the towel. It was fun, and we would like to thank all the people who have supported us along the way. Vehemence was and is a huge part of our lives, but at this point its time to start fresh. The death of VEHEMENCE has since spawned 3 new bands from its ex members. ABIGAIL WILLIAMS featuring Mark, Andy and Bjorn of VEHEMENCE (www.myspace.com/abigailwilliams), HE WHO BINDS HIMSELF featuring Nathan (www.myspace.com/hewhobindshimself), and as John stated ´I´m looking for members for a new band and I am also available for touring. Currently I´m also affiliated with several other side projects which I will release soon.´

"We still have a batch of new shirts coming this year, as well as a new remixed version of our first self released disc entitled ´The Thoughts From Which I Hide´, that will be available exclusively at www.vehemence.com. VEHEMENCE may do shows every now and then, but will not be a full time band. Just keep checking our website as that will still be up and running."

ENTOMBED

Cenk A. - 11/11/2005 Top

Swedish metallers ENTOMBED have set "Serpent Saints" as the title of their new album, due on June 6, 2006 via Threeman Recordings. The upcoming CD will be the group's first without the contributions of guitarist Uffe Cederlund, who left the band in September.

Speaking to Sweden's Close-Up magazine, ENTOMBED guitarist Alex Hellid had the following to say about the upcoming album, "Over the years we've built something, a name that is much bigger than its individual parts. Living up to that name is something we take very seriously. Of course, we feel an enormous pressure, albeit in a positive way, and a great obligation to maintain [the name] as well as live up to our own and other people's high expectations that come along with putting an ENTOMBED logo on an album."

ENTOMBED have no plans on replacing Cederlund and will continue as a four-piece, with Hellid as the sole guitarist. However, there is a possibility that former ENTOMBED drummer and current THE HELLACOPTERS frontman Nicke Andersson will contribute to the next album.

"I've just talked loosely with Alex and Peter [Stjärnwind, drummer] about it," Andersson told Close-Up. "I haven't really said anything, but they've basically asked me if I would consider being involved in one way or the other. Whether or not that's because Uffe has quit, I have no idea. . . .It's really down to having the time to do it. There are another thousand ideas I want to see through. But if it's possible, it would be a blast to do something [with ENTOMBED]."

Death metal band Fleshgrind from USA have officially split up.

Bands statements :
"We regretfully wish to inform everyone that FLESHGRIND has officially called it quits. For some that's good news, for others it's gonna suck. The reasoning behind this decision was not an easy one after 13 years, but we feel this is the best time to move on.

"Before our last show about a month ago vocalist Rich Lispcomb formally stepped down from the position. Instead of contemplating replacing Rich with another vocalist, the remaining three members — Steve Murray, James Genenz, and Jesse Kehoe — have decided to move on in a new project. It just wouldn't be right calling ourselves FLESHGRIND if Rich isn't involved. Rich has decided he needs a life change. His heart just wasn't into it anymore, business-wise and artistically, so he is moving on. He sold his business, United Guttural Records, and will be moving to Michigan to get on with his life. The three of us have no hard feelings towards Rich and his decision, and respect him even more for coming out about how he felt, and we are excited about the uninhibited possibilites for our new project. We are currently undergoing a group soul search to determine our direction in our future endeavors, and will be looking for a singer and possibly a second guitarist to fill out the group, although that search has yet to get underway. For now we just wish to respectfully put FLESHGRIND to rest. We wish to thank every single person that has ever supported us in any way. You all know who you are.

"The MySpace page at www.myspace.com/fleshgrind will stay active for some time to come. News and information on our future efforts will be available here until everything is set in stone. We will be looking for members in the coming weeks. Again, we thank everyone for their support!"
