A full six years after their latest studio album release, Linköping, Sweden-based blackened metallers WITCHERY finally return with their long-awaited sixth studio album, "In His Infernal Majesty's Service", due on November 25 via Century Media Records.
"We've sadly had to part ways with two members prior to this album; longtime band member Martin Axenrot and live member (and recording member-to-be) Emperor Magus Caligula. Martin's departure is purely down to him being too busy with his other musical endeavors and Caligula had to leave the band over an unfortunate medical condition involving his hearing. These are both serious losses for the band and we wish them all the best in the future. We have, however, been able to find more than able replacements for our two lost brethren: Chris Barkensjö on the drums and Angus Norder on vocals. They both bring fresh blood and fresh ideas to the band and you can clearly hear that they both have made it necessary for us 'old members' to step up our game a notch or two!”
Celebrating the 20th year of the group's existence, "In His Infernal Majesty's Service" showcases an illustrious and revamped lineup consisting of original members Patrik Jensen (guitar; THE HAUNTED), Rikard Rimfält (guitar; SEANCE) and Sharlee D'Angelo (bass, ARCH ENEMY), alongside new additions to this nocturnal guild Angus Norder (vocals; NEKROKRAFT) and Chris Barkensjö (drums, LIK). Self-evidently, WITCHERY stays the stylistic course and continues their infamous tradition of combining the best elements of old school thrash, speed, death, black and ultimately pure heavy metal with dead-on songwriting precision for maximum listening pleasure. In regards to the musical approach and the recording procedure goals with the new album, which was produced and mixed by Daniel Bergstrand at Dug Out Studio (BEHEMOTH, IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH).
Jensen adds: "Musically, I wanted to make this album more raw than the previous ones. Perhaps as raw as the first album even. I really didn't want to over-work things, as I myself enjoy music that comes more from feeling and enthusiasm than music that has been contemplated and construed.
"This album is recorded by Daniel Bergstrand at his Dug Out Studio in Uppsala, Sweden. Even though Daniel has been a high-profile name for ages within the metal community, I've never had the opportunity to work with him before.
"I have to say that Daniel is really easy to work with. All around a great guy and he immediately understood what I was looking for production-wise when I spoke to him about the album.
"My main request was that I wanted a raw and unpolished production. I really dislike productions where you can hear that the band has had ages to complete just one song. Where there might be a month's worth of coffee breaks between the guitar takes etc. I wanted it to sound like a real band that is playing together. My second request was that I wanted the drums to sound like on VAN HALEN's '1984' album. I seriously love that aggressive middy drum sound.
"I think Daniel did an amazing job and I know that he rates this production very highly on his own personal list of albums he's worked on…”
DIVISION VANSINNE was created at the year of 2008 by guitarist and current vocalist TortureXvidian with the idea to keep the old spirit of early 90's black/death metal alive.
Previously the lineup contained Hatlevnad on vocals alongside Likh on bass, Terrorblaster on drums and TortureXvidian on guitars. Terrorblaster left the band in 2009 to focus on Desultor, thus being replaced by German "Cirkle of Chaos, Helvegen" on drums. While several guitar players tried out for the band, German left and Ljusebring Terrorblaster returned. Afterwards, Likh and Hatlevnad left the band as well.
After a lot of hard work, the band entered the studio in 2015 with Likh back on bass, and the album Dimension Darkness was born. Musically, the album builds itself around pure old school black/death metal aesthetics, blasting tempos with a variety of riffs and leads. Lyrically they deal in topics related to war, torture, demonic/evil themes, in both Swedish and English.
EUFORI is a band consisting of two members; Livsnekaren & Mortuz-Denatus, members from the band Mist of Misery. The duo was having a lot of ideas that did not fit so well with their other projects. To execute those ideas with their music, the band was formed in early 2016 in Stockholm.
Thus Eufori was created, taking inspiration from bands like Lifelover, Shining, Hypothermia, Nocturnal Depression, Pig, Hank III and Vanhelga. The band utilizes a broad musical range, making sure that no song is like the other. Apart from the set of Depressive Suicidal Black Metal sounds, an educated listener may also hear subtle Post-Punk influences.
The band utilizes “happy” sounding riffs along with layers of depressive vocals to implement a musical counterpoint. The irony is also present in their band name “Eufori.” The songs are generally catchy, and simple in its structure, while the lyrics we write is quite often personal, and tend to go deep in the exploration of negative thoughts and feelings.
Words from The Band:
"The songs we write are usually pretty catchy, and simple in its structure, while the lyrics we write is quite often personal, and tend to go deep in the exploration of negative thoughts and feelings."
Sin Of God was founded in 2004 at Ambrózfalva, Hungary. The intention was always to create forceful and fierce death metal music. The band has played many concerts within the Hungarian borders and did its first European tour in 2016 with Portuguese Holocausto Canibal.
Aenigmata is the band’s latest release, a merciless, destructive Death Metal album in its finest form. Inspired by the occult writings of Alchemy and the dissection of the faith in mankind, the album delivers much darkened and more ferocious sounds than the previous releases. Having a close kinship with bands like Morbid Angel, Immolation, Nile, Behemoth, Krisiun, Dead Congregation and the likes in terms of sonority, the opus is a perfect blending of unilluminated Traditional Death Metal & remorseless Brutal/Technical Death Metal. The 09 tracked album is likely to be embraced by the fans of OSDM & Dark Themed Technical Death Metal.
"I see Aenigmata as a complete solar work, mostly inspired by the alchemical writings of Hermes Trismegistus. If you dive deep into our Ambrosian music, you may find keys to different levels of consciousness."
Sweden's USURPRESS have revealed a brand new song, "Throwing The Gift Away". The doom/crust/prog infused death metal quartet, featuring death metal expert Daniel Ekeroth on bass (author of the book "Swedish Death Metal") and recently acquired drummer Mattias "Matte" Modin (ex-Dark Funeral), will release a new album on September 23rd via Agonia Records. Spanish thrashers HOLYCIDE, featuring Dave Rotten from AVULSED on vocals (but on a total Thrasher register here), have just revealed the cover artwork for what's going to be their first full length album that will be entitled "Annihilate... Then Ask!" whose recording phase has been finished and they're now in the mixing process. Release for the album is scheduled for January 2017 through Xtreem Music.
Cover artwork for "Annihilate… Then Ask!” has been made by renowned artist Andrei Bouzikov (MUNICIPAL WASTE, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, SKELETONWITCH…) and for what you can see, it's a total Thrasher cover!!
The album will contain nine brand new songs as well as a cover version of legendary US Thrashers DÉTENTE and this is what the band said about the album: "We were in doubt between an abstract, transcendental, modern and post-whatever artwork to demonstrate we're so fucking mature, but in the end our natural born stupidity and lack of originality prevailed and since we're a Thrash band without modern bullshit, we decided to go for a cover that's total fucking 80's Thrasher as hell!! Regarding the music, we can assure it's way superior than our previous EP, a fucking killer album!".
After a slew of crazy animated teasers, Stench Price have gone ahead and unleashed their first official video which was shot by a Japanese director. The song showcases the avant-garde edge the band have. For the uninformed, Stench Price involves members of Necrophagist, Hail of Bullets, Brutal Truth, Cynic, Paganizer, Echelon, etc. It's coming out in November via my label Transcending Obscurity Records. Slated for a release is also the death metal supergroup featuring Dave Ingram (Hail of Bullets, ex-Bolt Thrower, ex-Benediction) and Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, The Grotesquery, Demiurg, Necrogod, etc.) called Echelon.
Stench Price (International) - Self Titled
Genre - Avant-garde Grindcore
Release Date - November 30th, 2016
Record Label - Transcending Obscurity Records
For fans of - Brutal Truth (circa 'Sounds of the Animal Kingdom'), Nasum, Bathtub Shitter, C.S.S.O., Mr. Bungle
Stench Price are a grind 'superground' like no other. Not only do they feature star contributions from members of Necrophagist, Cynic, Brutal Truth, Paganizer, Hail of Bullets and others, the music too is of a different audacious kind. Mastermind Peter Shallmin has bombarded the already caustic music with bossa/lounge music in way that it all seems thoroughly fascinating. It's never been done before, at least not in such a brilliant manner where it adds a dimension to the music without taking away anything from it. The genre has been stagnating and it's time to bring in avant-garde influences that change the way we perceive it. Every song has unique contributions and a different edge to make sure that they not only stand out, but leave an indelible mark on the scene. There's none like Stench Price and this is only the beginning.
Stench Price line up:
France – Romain Goulon – Drums (Necrophagist, Disavowed etc.)
Siberia – Peter Shallmin – Bass (Escapethecult, Kamlath)
Siberia – Max Konstantinov – Guitars (Kamlath, Nebesniesnami)
USA – Max Phelps (Cynic, Exist, Death DTA Tours)
USA – Danny Lilker (Brutal Truth, Nuclear Assault, SOD, etc.)
UK – Dave Ingram (Hail of Bullets, Benediction, Bolt Thrower, etc.)
Sweden – Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, The Grotesquery, Demiurg, etc.)
Australia – Karina Utomo (High Tension)
USA – Shawn Knight (Child Bite)

The track listing for the effort is as follows:

Mist of Misery initiated their musical voyage back in 2010, March. The band is having two Extended Plays and one Full Length on their discography. They are set to release their second full length from Black Lion Records in the early August.
Their new album, entitled as “Absence” is a huge step forward in terms of production, song writing, lyrical depth and overall atmosphere. Mist of Misery has entered a new phase, one that aims to evoke depressive, melancholic and ambient atmospheres in the minds of listeners at a whole new level. On this album, it was done mainly through the introduction to even more melodic and symphonic influences. The music is intended to set the listener in a different and almost meditative state of mind in order to absorb its true depth. The sophomore album which is a unique amalgamation of two different kind sub-genres, delivers nothing but Nine tracks of Cold, Obscure and Depressive form of Arts. A musical adventure that will eventually bless the listener with a melancholic, yet beautiful experience.
The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in Forlorn Halls Studios and on various private locations in Stockholm, Sweden 2010 – 2016.
The artwork was drawn by the exceptionally talented Russian artist Alex Tartsus.
DARKTHRONE will release their new album, "Arctic Thunder", on October 14 via Peaceville. The CD marks the band's first new studio material since 2013's triumphant "The Underground Resistance", its most successful release in recent years.
The song "Tundra Leech", taken from "Arctic Thunder", can be streamed below.
An eclectic mix of free-spirited '80s-fueled blackened heavy metal, all executed in DARKTHRONE's trademark raw and organic style, "Arctic Thunder" was recorded and produced by the band themselves, with the sessions conducted at DARKTHRONE's old rehearsal unit, The Bomb Shelter, which was originally used during 1988-1990. Mastering is once again handled by Jack Control at Enormous Door.
With themes based around hate, contempt, and the inner mind and soul, and with the notable presence of Nocturno Culto on vocal duties across all songs for the first time in recent years, "Arctic Thunder" retains a grim atmosphere throughout the album's eight tracks.
BROKEN HOPE have set "Mutilated & Assimilated" as the title of their seventh album, to be released before the end of the year.
According to a press release, the follow-up to 2013's "Omen Of Disease" possesses an extra-special touch as "all of Jeremy Wagner's and Damian Leski's rhythm guitar tracks feature the boys using only the original Jeff Hanneman [SLAYER] guitars Wagner acquired from Hanneman's estate last year."
Said Wagner: "These famous axes have already inspired and channeled many of the riffs I wrote for the next full-length.
"I feel a real responsibility to Jeff and to [Hanneman's widow] Kathryn to use these guitars in a way that honors him. As long as I own these guitars, I will use them and carry on Jeff Hanneman's legacy. He remains a huge influence to me, and I probably wouldn't be here as an extreme metal guitarist/lyricist without him."
Godfathers of death metal genre to release new album in 2017
Morbid Angel, the Tampa, Florida-based death metal legends, are proud and excited to announce they have signed with UDR Music for all territories exclusively outside Japan. Featuring founder-member and venerated guitar legend Trey Azagthoth plus returning long-time member bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker, Morbid Angel are delighted to be back working with people who know metal music and will ensure the band reaffirm their status as the world’s greatest death metal band.
“We are extremely excited to be in this partnership with UDR!” says Tucker, “we are looking forward to making a great album and destroying the stage at many shows. UDR is a great label that supports the bands that they believe in, and we are proud to be one of those bands! Looking forward to a successful Partnership !!!!!!”
Formed in Charlotte, North Carolina during 1984, Azagthoth played with several line-ups before joining up with David Vincent and Pete Sandoval from grindcore specialists Terrorizer, as well as Richard Brunelle. It was this line-up which recorded and released the first Morbid Angel album in 1989, Altars Of Madness, which is widely recognized as a masterpiece and one of the major cornerstones of death metal music. Their intricate yet incredibly heavy music, featuring Azagthoth’s supremely technical yet ferociously feral guitar work, has seen Morbid Angel become one of the top selling death metal bands in the world.
While there are no specific details at this moment, Azagthoth and Tucker both look forward gleefully to writing and recording Morbid Angel’s ninth studio album, to be released sometime in 2017, and to taking Morbid Angel back out on tour.
Striking a consistent chord of dark, dissonant death-metal empathy with their loyal fanbase, and with the world in its current state, this is the perfect time for Morbid Angel to ascend once more.
