Sweden's melodic death/doom metallers OCTOBER TIDE have revealed a third new song in anticipation of their new album "Winged Waltz", which is released on April 22nd via Agonia Records. Titled "Swarm", the song is available for streaming via Bandcamp, at:
Alexander Högbom (vocals) commented on "Winged Waltz": "This is undoubtedly the best and most emotionally charged material October Tide has created, in my opinion. I know how much hard work Fredrik (guitars) has put into making this album and you can really feel the thought behind it all. I almost injured myself physically and was close to pass out a couple of times during the recording of the vocals. I gave it all to match the intense music and those powerful lyrics and I'm very happy with the result".
The successor to "Tunnel Of No Light" (2013) has been recorded, mixed and mastered in Wing Studios (Demonical, Centinex, Diabolical) in Sweden and produced by Sverker Widgren.
California-based metal outfit CARNIFEX will release its new album, titled "Slow Death", on August 5 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was produced and recorded by CARNIFEX and Mick Kenney (ANAAL NATHRAKH, BLEEDING THROUGH), and co-produced by Jason Suecof (DEATH ANGEL, CHELSEA GRIN, JOB FOR A COWBOY). "Slow Death" was mixed by Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL, DEVILDRIVER, DEICIDE) at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida. Cover art for the album was created by renowned artist and longtime collaborator Godmachine.
Let’s get this out of the way: Philip H. Anselmo fucked up royally in January. You know it. I know it. He knows it. He’s apologized and asked forgiveness. But based on some previous transgressions, that last part is understandably gonna take significantly more for a lot of people to accept.
If that clouds your opinion of/interest in Scour—arguably one of the more anticipated metal “supergroups” in some time—that’s entirely your prerogative. What we can help with, however, is actually debuting some music from the act featuring Anselmo, Pig Destroyer’s John Jarvis, Cattle Decapitation’s Derek Engemann, Animostity’s Chase Fraser and Strong Intention’s Jesse Schobel in the form of “Dispatched.” The song, taken from the band’s self-titled debut EP (out July 15 on Anselmo’s Housecore label), is firmly rooted in ’90s Scandinavian black metal and sounds remarkably NOTHING like any of the members’ main gigs.
“Doing the Scour project was a blast," Anselmo tells Decibel. "The track, 'Dispatched' was the first one I attacked, as it was the first one sent to me. Lyrically, I leave it to the listener to evaluate, as usual. The way I saw it, the songs were short, and extremely straightforward, so I didn’t want to clutter ‘em up with too much. Therefore, I had to pick particular lyrics that seemed provocatively absurd enough, and to perform them as raw as deemed fit. Hope all true extreme music lovers enjoy the stuff as much as I did performing it. A huge cheers to all the awesome collaborators on this project... Much love to all!”
Dutch all-female Dutch death/black metal band SISTERS OF SUFFOCATION released its debut five-song EP, "Brutal Queen", on April 22. The effort combines technical, old-school death metal with great hooklines and elements of black metal, according to a press release.
Founded in 2014 in Eidhoven, SISTERS OF SUFFOCATION managed very quickly to establish an amazing live reputation and got lots of invitations from venues and smaller festivals. This was noticed by Eindhoven Metal Meeting, who gave them a chance to present themselves for a bigger audience.
It has always been a dream of vocalist Els Prins to start an all-female death metal band, but she didn't seem to be able find the right group of girls to make this dream reality — that is, until she met guitarist Simone van Straten. Sharing a love for extreme music, they recruited drummer Amber de Buijzer and bass player Marjolein van den Nieuwenhuizen and started rehearsing. They released their first single, "Boundaries", in July 2014 and played their first show one month later. In May 2015, Marjolein exited the band and was replaced by Puck Wildschut.
Vocalist Chuck Billy of San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT has confirmed that the band's forthcoming eleventh studio album will "definitely" be titled "The Brotherhood Of The Snake".Billy added that most difficult part of making new albums for a band like TESTAMENT "is that we don't live near to each other. We're not like a normal band where we're, like, 'Oh, we'll see you at the studio, we're jamming tomorrow." Alex [Skolnick, lead guitarist] lives in New York, Eric [Peterson, rhythm guitarist] lives in San Diego, and me and Steve [DiGiorgio, bassist] are the only ones that still live in the Bay Area. So when it's time to rehearse or go on tour, they bring everybody in together to practice. It's not the easiest way to write when we're going through that stage. It's, like, 'We're writing. Okay, everyone send in stuff through e-mail.' That's the hardest part of it, but I think it keeps us focused on the song a little more, so it has its ups and downs. I still like getting together and kicking around thoughts in the studio with the band."
The third full-length album by the brutal death metal project of the vocalist of the famous Turkish band CENOTAPH. The new album develops the concept of previous works of the band based on “Dead Space” trilogy. It is dedicated to Aegis 7 – the seventh planet of Cygnus system. This time the album narrates a story about infected colonies of this planet, necromorphs, mutated monsters and other brutal unnamed creatures of space. This new chapter is definitely more technical, fast and blasting as compared to the previous albums of DRAIN IMPURITY. Atmospheric introductions traditionally precede songs and help to get deeper into this cosmic hell along with familiar deep-chested growling of Batu Cetin. Get ready for unlimited slaughter and fatal journey to the depth of unexplored Universe!
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of AVULSED, the band decided to commit a very ambitious project which is no other than recording a double album including 18 of their best songs from all their albums, EP's and demos. Instead of just doing a dull compilation with original songs, the band wants to do a "no fillers, just killers" release showing the evolution that the songs have suffered during all these years where the band's sound has been getting heavier and songs have got slight mutations through the times.
This double album (80 min.) will be released in a deluxe double CD digipack with slipcase and a thick 40 pages booklet containing the original versions on disc #2 (just for the freaks who hate re-recordings), double gatefold 12"LP and double Cassette with slipcase!! But to make this release even more interesting, AVULSED will have very special guests from other bands singing in most of the songs!! They are: Peter (VADER), Barney (NAPALM DEATH), Tomas Lindberg (AT THE GATES), Sven (ABORTED), Antti Boman (DEMILICH), Chris Reifert (AUTOPSY), Per Böder (GOD MACABRE), Anton Reisenegger (PENTAGRAM CHILE), Kam Lee (ex-MASSACRE), Rogga Johansson (PAGANIZER), Mike Van Mastrigt (ex-SINISTER), Ville Koskela (PURTENANCE), Will Rahmer (MORTICIAN), Ludo (SUPURATION), Johan Jansson (INTERMENT) & last but not least, Paul Zavaleta (DETERIOROT). A total of 16 singers in 16 of the songs!!
Title for this album will be "Deathgeneration", since 25 years means a whole generation devoted to Death Metal, and cover artwork will be made, once again, by the awesome Juanjo Castellano who worked on the two latest AVULSED cover arts. Expect another masterpiece!! Release date for this take place next autumn, right before the two very special 25th anniversary shows that AVULSED will offer in Madrid (Nov. 19th) & Barcelona (Nov. 26th). Support bands for the show in Madrid will be another Spanish Death Metal legend APOSENTO and newcomers BIZARRE who will also open on the Barcelona show accompanied by another band which is confirmed, but we can't announce yet!! An official live CD+DVD will be recorded & filmed in Madrid!!
"Deathgeneration" will come on a very limited black boxset with silver foiled logo, of which only 100 copies will be made containing the 2-CD, 2-LP & 2-MC. This special cassette release can only be obtained on this boxset that will come with T-shirt, poster, signed photo card, sticker, patch, badge, guitar pick and other goodies. The 2-CD, 2-LP & T-shirt can be obtained separately or in bundles too. For this ambitious (and expensive) project, AVULSED will need the inestimable collaboration of its fans for which the band will release a Crowfunding campaign during the next months.
Recording sessions for "Deathgeneration" will start tomorrow 24th of March with drums being recorded at Cadillac Blood Studios with Andy C. (LORD OF BLACK/ SARATOGA/ KAOTHIC) on production and rest of stuff being recorded at La Casa del Ruido Studios with Daniel Blanco engineering for a later mixing at Overhead Studios by Raul Fournier "Furni" and final mastering again at Unisound Studios by Swedish mastermind Dan Swanö. All this process, including each guest vocalists' contributions, will be a hard process (just imagine, it's a double album!), that will take the next three months for which the band has slowed down its live activities.
Swiss’ black metal horde BLOODY BLASPHEMY will release its debut album “Total Death Celebration” on April 28, 2016 through Via Nocturna.
Raw, infernal and hatred parts, surrounded by blast-beat-driven insanity – this is how you can describe BLOODY BLASPHEMY’s music. It’s in vein of late 80’s early 90’s Norwegian sound. Aggresive and determined to dominate your life. It’s ugly, it’s disgusting, it’s the true face of black metal. An album you can’t ignore and will not ignore. Something interesting and making you sick at the same time.
"Psychopathology" will be the first album in RAGNAROK's history that doesn't feature founder Jontho on drums. Having taken over the role of frontman, his place behind the drum kit is taken by DAUDEN drummer Malignant, who joined the band in 2014. The follow-up to 2012's "Malediction" was recorded in Endarker Studio and produced by Marduk's bassist, Devo. The cover artwork was made by Marcelo Vasco (Slayer, Machine Head, Dimmu Borgir).
Founder and frontman Jontho had this to say about fans can expect from the album: "Your wait will finally come to an end in 2016 when we release "Psychopathology", our eighth full-length album. I can say with absolute certainty that this album will be the best in RAGNAROK's career to date. It is the result of dedication, hard work, and the musical skills of our lineup, and is the next stage in the band's development, both musically and lyrically. "Psychopathology" is about to unleash total chaos upon you as it invites you to dive deeper into the dark recesses of the human mind".
